- Be at
least 19 years of age (18 if attending
college where a BB/BS program is in
place)
- Be a
resident of Berks County or attending
school in Berks County.
- Be
gainfully employed or self-sufficient;
or a full time student in Berks
County.
- Have
access to a car, possess a valid
driver's license, a good driving
history, and proof of car
insurance.
- Be
willing to complete the BB/BS
application/training process in its
entirety.
- Be
willing to make a 1 year commitment to
the agency.
- Be
willing to commit to: The "One-To-One"
mentoring program (about 12 hours a
month); The "S.M.A.R.T."
mentoring program (about 4-5 hours a
month) or; Be a COUL Volunteer (Club of
Unmatched Littles- 6 activities per
year).
- Be
willing to attend any support/training
workshops or meetings required by
BB/BS.
- Be
willing to co-operate with the agency
in the supervision/monitoring process
of the mentoring match
relationship.
Exceptions
can be made at the discretion of the
Casework Manager with approval from the
agency Executive Director.
Adult
VOLUNTEER
APPLICATION PROCESS:

(includes 3 references, Employment
Verification, Criminal Check &
Child Abuse Check, Motor
Vehicle check).
- Volunteer
Training.
- Interview
(at Volunteer's home or BB/BS office).
(After
successful completion of interview, the
applicant would be able to participate in
COUL Activities)
If the
applicant would want to be MATCHED with
one child, he or she would need to
schedule a Home walk-through of their
residence which would also include a brief
follow-up interview.
NOTE:
The volunteer application process is a
continuing process. We reserve the right
to withdraw your eligibility as a
volunteer at any time.
COUL
Volunteers are not required to have a home
walk-through or follow-up interview. Time
requirement is open to schedule of
volunteer and involves participation in
COUL activities or general BB/BS
activities/events. Participation permitted
with group activities prior to all
background & reference forms being
received.
Youth
MINIMUM
YOUTH ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- Youth

mentoring match relationship.
- Youth
must have a desire to be matched with a
BB or BS and to sustain that mentoring
match relationship for at least one
year.
- Youth
must lack a supportive & nurturing
relationship with the absent parent or
significant members of the client's
extended family.
- Youth
must be capable of deriving some
benefit from the services of the BB/BS.
Exceptions
can be made at the discretion of the
Casework Manager with approval from the
agency Executive Director.
